PFP stands for "profile picture" — the image that represents an account on social platforms like Instagram, X, TikTok or Discord. In everyday use it covers everything from a selfie to anime art: "nice pfp" simply means "nice profile picture".
The abbreviation grew up in gaming and forum culture (where an alternate reading, "picture for proof", also existed) and went mainstream with Discord and TikTok. Today entire aesthetics exist around it — matching pfps for couples and friends, anime pfps, brand pfps.
