The right size, explained

The standard flyer size in the US is Letter, 8.5×11 inches (2550×3300 pixels at 300 DPI); the most common compact options are the half-sheet 5.5×8.5 and the slim DL 3.9×8.3 (99×210mm). Internationally, A5 (148×210mm) is the everyday flyer.

Add 0.125 inches (3mm) of bleed on every side if the design touches the paper's edge — print shops trim inside it.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a standard flyer?+
8.5×11 inches (US Letter) is the default; 5.5×8.5 half-sheets are cheaper to print in bulk and fit handouts better.
What resolution do I need to print flyers?+
300 DPI at final size. Anything lower shows soft edges on text, which is the first thing that makes a flyer look homemade.
Can the same flyer work on social media?+
Reuse the concept, not the file: export a 1080×1350 (4:5) version for feeds — print layouts pasted to social read as noise.
