We reviewed the community's most saved and shared avatars to spot patterns. Three conclusions kept repeating.

1. Simple backgrounds win

Avatars with two-color gradient backgrounds get saved more often than full-scene backgrounds. At small icon size, detail is lost and contrast with the subject is the only thing that reads.

2. One accent color per avatar

Profiles with a tight palette (one dominant color plus one accent) are recognized faster in a live chat list than palettes with more than three colors.

3. Expression matters more than detail

A clear, readable expression at small size almost always beats a hyper-detailed render with a neutral expression.
